Volvo Group, which includes Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, and Renault, released its February deliveries report indicating North America— its second largest market— received 45% more trucks than in February 2003. The steep increase in delivery reflects market enthusiasm for an economic rebound here.

Total North American deliveries are 6,116— or 24% of its world market. Its Western European market was stagnant, however. With 13,768 deliveries in Western Europe, which makes the region by far its largest market, it comprises 53% of Volvo Group’s worldwide share.

Mack Trucks posted the largest increase percentage-wise (27%), as a result of its strong base in North America. Mack delivered 3,001 units in the region. Overall deliveries of Volvo Trucks saw a more modest increase of 18%. However, in North America it saw a 71% boost in deliveries to 3,038 units. Renault Trucks posted a slight 6% increase, as a result of flat-lining sales in its European base.

“Deliveries continued to develop strongly also in February. This applies mainly to North and South America as well as the Middle East, driven by a strong trend in Iran,” said Leif Johansson, president & CEO of the Volvo Group.
