Melville, NY-based Verint Systems, a security software and systems provider, has purchased privately held RP Sicherheitssysteme GmbH ("RP Security"), a developer of mobile video security technology for the transportation market based in Flensburg, Germany.

The transaction totaled $9 million in cash and company stock.

Founded in 1999, RP Security focuses on transportation security needs with a range of products including mobile alarm devices, video processing technology and fleet video management software. Verint said it plans to use the acquisition to adapt its own Networked Video Solution to provide mobile video surveillance in the U.S. for railways, buses and other mass transit systems, as well as emergency vehicles.
