Built on the remains of long-bankrupt trailer maker HPA Monon, Vanguard National Trailer Corp. is rolling out products as it ramps up efforts to widen its offerings of dry van units to the trucking industry.

New from Vanguard is the 53-ft., 101-in. interior width VIP MaxiCube. The MaxiCube has a specially designed sidewall structure to give it additional cube capacity, as well as smooth, no-snag walls and a proprietary post design for increased rigidity, said Richard Dessimoz, the company's president.

The trailer maker will continue to offer the 53-ft., 100-in. interior width VIP 4000 model‥

The MaxiCube has a variety of galvanized components, including the rear frame and gussets, rear impact guard and landing gear brackets, for improved corrosion resistance. The new dry van has an extruded aluminum front corner, standard LED lighting, 5/16th-in. front coupler plate, and laminated oak flooring.

Dessimoz noted that Vanguard's dry van trailers offer some unique options, including a proprietary plastic lining that results in a 200 lb. weight savings, yet offers more durability and protection.

Vanguard is a subsidiary of the China International Marine Container Group (CIMC), which bought the manufacturing assets of HPA Monon in 2004.
