    The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has launched a new website, http://www.ops.fhwa.dot.gov/OpsSecurity/, to provide simple access to information on improving security in the operation of the surface transportation system. A section on the website offers information managing emergencies.

    Council of Fleet Specialists (CFS) will hold its Institute for Transportation Parts Professionals September 21-24 in Salt Lake City. The program is aimed at anyone involved in truck parts distribution. www.cfshq.com.

    FHWA will issue about $35 million in discretionary funds for infrastructure projects in 21 states, including $24.8 million to the Discretionary Bridge program for seismic retrofit and $5.6 million for the Historic Covered Bridge program.
