The National Transportation Exchange (NTE) said it has introduced enhancements to its online marketplace so ground transportation carriers can now more quickly and simply secure additional freight opportunities.
Once a carrier books a shipment and notifies NTE of delivery arrangements, NTE’s system will automatically present additional load opportunities to them, both backhauls and continuous move opportunities, based on the first shipment’s destination location. Previously, carriers could search and book shipments separately, stringing together round trip and multi-segment shipment opportunities.
“Automating the e-procurement process for multiple shipments will enable our carriers to make better use of their assets, which will drive incremental revenues for their trucks and improve our member shippers’ ability to move freight,” said John Martin, NTE’s senior vp of sales, marketing and business development. “The entire NTE team is committed to developing new tools that power our members' logistics operations and enhance liquidity in our marketplace.”
Carriers that take advantage of the continuous move capability can sort potential moves according to their business rules and preferences, he added. For example, they can identify shipment opportunities by revenue-per-mile, out-of-route miles and other criteria.
