The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that Canadian truckers entering the United States with hazardous materials loads will be required to have a FAST card by Aug. 10. The requirement is restricted to those handling quantities requiring a hazardous materials placard and includes explosives, the Canadian Trucking Alliance said.
“While we are pleased that [TSA] has finally adopted the solution CTA promoted over the past several years, it is difficult to understand why this announcement came less than three weeks from a legislated deadline, when the process to obtain a FAST card typically takes six to eight weeks,” stated David Bradley, CTA’s CEO.
