Westport and its JV to cut workforce
As a result of the strategic and operational decisions, Westport Innovations Inc. and its joint venture with Cummins Inc., Cummins Westport, will reduce its combined workforce by about 25 employees over the next quarter.
Westport and Cummins Westport are also reviewing the structure of the organizations to ensure the present capabilities match the business needs moving forward.
The changes will result in a total restructuring charge of approximately $1.2 million, all of which will be recognized in Westport's financial statements for the period ended March 31.
