New vehicle tracking system unveiled

Data Burst’s iTRAK device transmits information via Southern LINC's packet data network. Fleets can then track their vehicles mile by mile on custom maps hosted on Data Burst's NavView website. The system stores tracking information for 60 days and can be downloaded by the customer at any time. Map views are updated every five minutes so dispatchers see the most current location, the companies said.

The companies said their vehicle-tracking service provides several benefits: improved fleet efficiency and on-route compliance, increased security for drivers and cargo, better dispatch ability for directing vehicles and drivers efficiently, better documentation of deliveries, and improved possibility of recovering stolen vehicles.
