Arnold Transportation Services, a subsidiary of Roadway Corp., received two state awards for outstanding safety performance in 2001.

Arnold received a first-place award from the Pennsylvania Motor Transportation Assn. for truckload general commodities; over 10-million miles run in the state. The award was based on having the lowest state-DOT-recorded accident frequency in the state for 2001.

The carrier also received a second-place safety award from Georgia Motor Transportation Assn. in the same division and class.

"We are truly honored by these prestigious awards that have been presented to Arnold Transportation Services," said president & CEO Michael S. Walters. "It takes a team effort to achieve such high standards. With safety being one of our top objectives, it is obvious that we can realize any goal we set for ourselves."
