Hyundai Translead has been awarded three new patents for product designs. One patent was received for a variable height gooseneck chassis and two for trailer designs.

The company said its new design for an intermodal chassis gooseneck provides the capability of handling both the latest high-cube shallow tunnels as well as the conventional ISO depth tunnel type containers.

The design features full tunnel support, ease of operation, and the ability to be retrofitted to existing low-profile gooseneck chassis without extensive modifications.

One of the trailer patents is for an adjustable wheelbase trailer including reinforced structural apertures. The design features a method for providing integral reinforced holes in the chassis main beams and slider rails without the need for added plates or added thickness to the material.

Hyundai Translead also received a patent on the Method and Apparatus for Coupling Trailer Plates. The design features overlapping plates that can be removed without removal of the sidewall stiffener and can reduce replacement time of any damaged panel by 30 to 50%, which can significantly reduce maintenance costs, said the company.
