PowerTrack has been installed over the last three years to handle payments for all domestic military freight shipments, said Tom Hicks, MTMC's coordinator.
"It pays the carriers promptly and provides us a treasure trove of transportation data," he said. MTMC mandated PowerTrack payments for its military cargoes in the fall of 2000.
PowerTrack is an automated payment system of U.S. Bank in Minneapolis. For a sliding fee of 1% to 2%, depending on contract award, carriers are paid within several days for their shipments, with U.S. Bank, in turn, reimbursed by the Defense Finance & Accounting Service, MTMC said.
