Emergency One donated a new rescue vehicle to the Fire Dept. of New York (FDNY) yesterday at a ceremony in front of the New York Stock Exchange. Joe Ross, chairman & CEO of parent company Federal Signal Corp., presented the keys to a new rescue vehicle to FDNY chief Daniel Nigro.
The unit donated is a 19-foot non-walk-in rescue vehicle designed to respond to fires and other emergencies as needed. It will operate from Special Operations Command with the primary capability of providing dewatering functions. Additionally, the truck is equipped with systems to provide emergency electricity for lighting.
Ross noted that a number of other companies, including Freightliner Truck, stepped forward with equipment and material contributions to make the donation possible.
