Global 2-Way, a Florida-based provider of land mobile and wireless communications systems, announced the commercial availability of its messaging and tracking system has called Global T-Fleet. The FM radio-based messaging solution, originally introduced to the trucking industry by Terion Inc., was acquired by Global 2-Way.

According to the company, Global T-Fleet is intended to provide a low-cost nationwide messaging and tracking system. It includes a driver terminal and transceiver unit, a whip-style antenna and Window-based mapping and communications software. The system can be leased for as low as $75 per unit per month, with a communications plan that includes 250 messages. Other monthly messaging packages range in price from $19.99 per unit per month for 100 messages to $39.99 per month for 400 messages.

The solution utilizes Global 2-Way's patented digital high frequency (DHF) network and existing FM sub-carrier networks. Inbound messages — messages from the vehicle to dispatch — transmit through the DHF network. Outbound messages — from dispatch to the vehicle — transmit through FM sub-carrier frequencies that are leased to Global 2-Way by FM stations across the country.
