Fort Smith, AR-based LTL carrier ABF Freight System has secured a U.S. patent for its electronic shipment planner, an internet-based technology available through its website to help customers manage and track shipments through a calendar interface.

“This patent exemplifies our focus on developing innovative technological solutions that our customers find distinctly usable, saving them time and money,” noted Michael Newcity, director of e-systems and emerging technologies.

Newcity said the online calendar system allows customers to list shipments by pickup date, due/delivery date or appointment date, with customers choosing the types of shipments and the shipment information to be displayed. The items are hyperlinked to additional shipment details and the calendar can be customized to manage business and personal schedules, he added.
