Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said today that all its North American tire manufacturing plants have been recommended for certification to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.

ISO 14001 is an international standard defining the requirements for environmental management systems that an organization uses to identify and manage potential impacts to the environment from its activities. The system must include a commitment to comply with government regulations and other applicable standards, as well as a commitment to pollution prevention and continual improvement that goes beyond legal requirements.

Goodyear said an additional five non-tire manufacturing facilities are on schedule for recommendation by the end of August.
