Ryder said it has reached an agreement to build a 230,000-sq.-ft. facility at N.W. 106th Street and the Florida Turnpike in Miami-Dade County. The decision follows a year-long site selection process that included 22 potential sites located in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
President and CEO Gregory T. Swienton said Ryder needed more cost-effective and efficient office space.
"To ensure our continued success, we need a facility compatible with our current business model and with efficiencies the present headquarters building could not provide," Swienton said. "The design of the new facility is intended to reflect the business requirements of Ryder today and in the future."
Swienton said factors involved in the site selection included Ryder's commitment to remain in South Florida and its preference for a nearby locale that would not impose a significant change in the daily travel patterns of its employees.
