Combining advanced onboard electronics and a variety of support systems, Volvo Trucks North America has developed an integrated package of support services and products for its VN and VHD heavy-duty truck lines.

Announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show, Performance Integrated Systems Management (PRISM) offers features for drivers, fleet managers and technicians.

The five major components of the company's new program are:

  • Volvo Action Service 24/7 roadside assistance provides guaranteed payment to service facilities, replacement vehicles and even hotel reservations.

  • Volvo Trip Manager collects operating information downloaded from vehicles and presents it in easy-to-organize management reports or exports the data to other applications.

  • VCADS Elite interfaces with Volvo's onboard diagnostic system for testing, calibration, record keeping and basic troubleshooting applications.

  • Drop-N-Lock plug-in electrical and air connections allows easy body mounting on VHD vocational trucks.

Volvo also announced a new financing program for used truck buyers. Dubbed Generation2 , it features low introductory interest rates, $0 down payments and loan levels that exceed truck book values by as much as 200%.
