At last month's Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, the CAT Scale Co. of Walcott, IA, introduced a new scale controller to increase scale uptime and accuracy.

The CAT Scale Intalogix controller, developed in partnership with Fairbanks Scales of Kansas City, MO, is designed to increase the speed and accuracy of truck weighing operations at CAT's 800 scale locations in the U.S.

The Intalogix controller connects each scale by modem to CAT's headquarters, so errors can be detected faster — usually before the truckstop that hosts the scale is aware of them. Each controller has 14 separate input/output ports so it can be integrated with a variety of communication devices, CAT said. The controller also stores each weighing operation for 24 hours, giving drivers the option of a reweigh later in the day.

CAT said 92 of the Intalogix controllers are in operation, with the rest of the company's nationwide scale network due to be retrofitted over the next two years.
