According to Dana, the new axle has a 300-mm hypoid gearing and wheel differential designed to maximize strength and increase axle life when used with high-horsepower engines. Ground clearance is improved via a bolted oval axle carrier assembly, welded housing cover, and flat-bottom axle housing.

The axle assembly itself weighs just 345 lb., and reduced pinion standout distance increases vehicle installation flexibility and improves driveline angles.
