Schneider National Inc. debuted its stackable intermodal container at the Intermodal Assn. of North America (IANA) Intermodal Expo. The product is planned to launch in 2005.
Schneider worked with Stoughton Trailers and Wabash National to design the container to match the interior dimensions of a standard 53-ft. trailer. The container is 53 ft. in length and is 100 3/8th-in. wide. It can accommodate 25 pinwheeled pallets and allows the potential for 10- to 15% more palletized cargo than standard intermodal containers, Schneider said.
The company is showcasing the container in Stoughton Trailers’ booth at the Intermodal Expo, November 13 to 16, 2004, in San Antonio, TX.
