Automotive Resources International (ARI) has bought the assets of Auto Truck Group, a leading upfitter in the work truck industry.

The company will now be known as Auto Truck Group LLC (ATG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ARI. ARI said it plans to merge its railroad truck upfitting subsidiary, Fleet Body Equipment (FBE), into ATG.

Current ATG president Jim Dondlinger and the present management team will continue to lead all of ATG’s operations, including Auto Truck Inc. (Chicago), Fort Wayne Fleet Equipment Co. (Fort Wayne, IN), Layton Truck Equipment Co. (Colorado Springs and Denver, CO), Louisville Truck Equipment (Louisville, KY), and Fleet Body Equipment (Kansas City, MO, and Fort Worth, TX).

“The acquisition of ATG will permit ARI customers in the utility, energy, and telecommunications industries to gain a competitive edge through more effective operation of their fleets,” noted Carl Ortell, ARI’s president. “It will permit us to expand capacity, improve utilization of resources, and add more product offerings.”
