Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. has introduced a recoatable primer it says has an outdoor protection life of nine months. ELEMENT SHIELD is the result of breakthrough technology that provides extended non-sanding recoatability for weathered primed units, according to the manufacturer.

Sherwin-Williams' recoatable technology uses chemical bonding between primer layers, delivering improved intercoat adhesion and long-term durability without the need for sanding, saving valuable time and labor dollars.

In addition to nine months' outdoor-protection life, the new primer is UV stable, offers high solids, excellent corrosion resistance and low VOC.
