FedEx Ground has chosen a 100-acre site in Hutchins, TX, as the location for a new 330,000-sq.-ft. distribution hub. The company hopes to open the Dallas-Ft. Worth-area center by the spring of 2005.

The distribution center will be the first of 10 such facilities built over the next six years as part of FedEx Ground's previously-announced $1.8 billion network expansion plan. The plan also calls for the expansion of 23 existing hubs and the relocation of more than 300 pickup and delivery terminals.

FedEx Ground said the Hutchins hub will have the capacity to process about 22,500 packages an hour and, at full capacity, more than 45,000 packages per hour.
