Vehicle Inspection Systems (VIS) has introduced a fully automatic nitrogen tire inflation system called VIS-Nitro. Capable of filling four tires at once, the unit has an inflation controller that automates the tire top-ups, thus eliminating the need for handheld pressure gauges.

“All the technician has to do is clip the four chucks on, set the pressure and walk away,” says Miles Fuller, president of VIS. “The machine beeps when it's done.”

Fuller also notes that the VIS-Nitro has an automated purge cycle that “vents air from within an inflated tire and replaces it with high purity nitrogen.”

According to VIS, nitrogen is more effective than oxygen in maintaining tire pressure and lengthens tread life.
