Sterling workers vote to strike

Union workers at the St. Thomas, Ontario, Sterling Truck plant have voted 88% in favor of a strike after contract negotiations broke down, the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union said. Union workers at the St. Thomas, Ontario, Sterling Truck plant have voted 88% in favor of a strike after contract negotiations broke down, the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union said.

The union said key issues in the dispute include wages, benefits and pensions. A strike deadline has yet to be established.

CAW represents about 1,100 union members at the plant. They officially began contract talks in early January.

The Sterling Truck plant makes about 70 medium- and heavy-duty trucks a day.
