Clean Diesel Technologies, a developer of chemical and technological solutions to reduce harmful engine emissions, announced that a series of independent tests have demonstrated that the company’s Platinum Plus fuel-borne catalyst can help substantially reduce diesel emissions from older fleet vehicles, including school buses, local delivery and refuse trucks.
The series of tests that were conducted on a 1995 DT466 International engine at San Antonio, TX-based Southwest Research Institute showed that the toxic emissions from these vehicles could be reduced by as much as 70% when retrofitted with the Platinum Plus FBC, coupled with various other U.S. EPA-verified technologies, said the company.
Clean Diesel Technologies president, James Valentine, noted that retrofitting older polluting vehicles with the Platinum Plus product can be done inexpensively. “These tests demonstrate…that there is a cost-effective emission solution for some of the worst polluters on our roadways—the older school buses and local delivery trucks,” he said. “You don’t need to buy new trucks to get the benefit of modern diesel emission devices.”
