This month ChevronTexaco Products Company introduced its FleetFix Conversion Pack to provide all materials needed to convert “conventional” coolant already in the truck to extended life coolant (ELC) without having to drain, flush and refill the cooling system.

The company said using the FleetFix conversion program results in substantial time and labor savings, plus less used-coolant waste removal.

“For companies interested in converting a large number of pieces of equipment to ELC, FleetFix is an ideal solution,” said Carmen Ulabarro, coolant marketing specialist. “As more OEMs ship new equipment with ELC, it makes sense for companies to upgrade older equipment to the technology. The timely conversion process offered by FleetFix can help lower the potential for cross-contamination,” which can occur during a normal conversion process if several coolants are being maintained in a shop at the same time.

Once a cooling system is converted to ELC using FleetFix, the coolant can have a service life of up to 600,000 miles, 6 years or 12,000 hours (with an extender addition at 300,000 mi./3 yr. or 6,000 hr.), noted Ulabarro. She said that to obtain the stated service life and performance benefits, products like Delo Extended Life or Texaco Extended Life Coolant Prediluted 50/50 must be used for top-up.

A single FleetFix Conversion Pack comes with enough fluid to convert five Class 8 trucks, or an equivalent amount of stationary machinery, with cooling systems between 9 and 12 gallons. A component of the FleetFix Conversion Pack is FleetFix Conversion Concentrate, a concentrated version of the patented inhibitors found in ChevronTexaco ELC.

FleetFix will be available through ChevronTexaco and its lubricant marketers beginning this month.
