Savannah, GA-based Great Dane Trailers is providing refrigerated trailers for use over an extended period of time to the American Red Cross for its emergency response efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The reefers are being sent from a Great Dane dealership in Dallas, TX, to storm-ravaged areas along the Gulf Coast, including Baton Rouge, LA, Lafayette, LA, and Mobile, AL in support of local food and supply-distribution hubs.
Great Dane is also initiating a corporate giving program. Employees at nine production facilities and 25 branch locations nationwide are participating in fundraising efforts for the American Red Cross to benefit storm survivors.
“Our neighbors in the Gulf States are experiencing devastation most of us can not fathom,” said Phil Pines, Great Dane’s COO. “We’re eager to dedicate the resources we can to help bring relief to those who desperately need it.”
Pines noted that while Great Dane’s full-service branch in Mobile, AL sustained some damage from Katrina, it is now fully operational along with the firm’s dry-freight van production facility located in Greenville, MS, which experienced no structural damage from the hurricane.
