Arrow Trucking chairman killed in plane crash

A pontoon plane carrying a group of Tulsa businessmen on a hunting trip crashed in northeastern Canada Monday, killing two passengers, including J.W. “Jim” Pielsticker, chairman of Tulsa-based Arrow Trucking, and their Canadian pilot. The plane crashed at 5:30 p.m. CDT Monday while trying to land at a lakeside hunting lodge near the Hudson Bay coast, about 680 miles north of Montreal, said Jim Harris, Canadian Transportation Safety Board spokesman. The plane ended up in Lake Mollet.

Pielsticker, 63, was riding in the front section of the plane. He was killed with Charles Ryan, president & COO of Tulsa-based The Nordam Group. The pilot has not been identified.

Pielsticker acquired Arrow Trucking Co. more than 30 years ago. The company's fleet included fewer than 10 trucks at the time, but had grown to 1,300 trucks under Pielsticker's leadership.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, a son, Douglas, and a daughter, Melissa.
