Results are in for the J.D. Power and Assoc. 2002 Medium-Duty Truck Customer Satisfaction Survey. For the second year running, Peterbilt ranks highest in overall product satisfaction in the conventional category, while Hino takes top honors for the Class 5-7 cabover segment.
Six factors contribute to the overall ranking: vehicle quality; engine; transmission; ride, handling and braking; cab interior; and exterior design and styling.
J.D. Power says that Peterbilt's strong performance is driven by its 330 model, which accounts for 84% of its medium-duty lineup. “Owners of the 330 model report the fewest incidences of downtime.”
Hino owners report the “fewest occurrences of downtime among all ranked cabover models in the study.”
Kenworth, Sterling, Chevrolet, GMC Truck, Ford, Freightliner, Mitsubishi Fuso and UD Trucks also perform above industry average in overall satisfaction.
In terms of dealer satisfaction, Chevrolet ranks second behind GMC Truck; Ford also performs above industry average.
