Truckload carrier Transport Corporation of America has hired Ron Kipp as vp-operations to oversee the carrier's customer service and operational management activities.

Before joining Minneapolis-based Transport America, Kipp spent 24 years at truckload carrier Schneider National in various positions, including vp-operations and vp-sales for Schneider Specialized Carriers.

The move comes during a rough year for Transport America, which is trying to make up ground after several major financial accounting changes. It lost $279,000 in the first quarter after taking close to $20 million worth of charges to meet new accounting standards and to dispose of used tractors.
