Delphi Corp. says the next generation of its Truck PC on-board computer and entertainment system will include a suite of security features that will prevent trucks from being operated by unauthorized drivers or entering unauthorized areas.

A combination of new hardware and software, TruckSecure will monitor vehicle activities using GPS positioning and cellular telephone communications, allowing fleets to set “geo-fences” restricting trucks for leaving pre-determined routes or from entering sensitive areas. The system will slowly decelerate a truck and bring it to a complete stop if it violates geo-fence parameters. It also requires a password to start a vehicle and will automatically shut a truck down if someone attempts to tamper with the Truck PC.

Truck PC is an OBC that fits in a standard radio slot on the dashboard, providing information, entertainment and fleet management services.
