Fort Smith, AR-based LTL carrier ABF Freight System is implementing a regional transportation network to beef up next- and second-day delivery services in the Eastern U.S. It will operate in parallel alongside the carrier’s national linehaul network.

Called the Regional Performance Model (RPM), it’s designed to improve flexibility, operational efficiency and reliability for short-haul freight transportation, said Bob Davidson, ABF’s president & CEO.

“Tight capacity and evolving logistical standards mean customers are looking for reliable solutions for all of their shipments, including regional freight,” Davidson noted.

“This new service should give customers from Maine to South Carolina more consistent next-and second-day service for regional freight … along with the supply chain visibility, careful cargo care, attentive customer service and reliability they’ve come to expect from our national linehaul business,” he added.
