Iran buys more Volvo trucks

Volvo Trucks has received an order for a total of 600 Volvo FH12 trucks from Iran. It is the second order for the Volvo FH12 from Iran – in May the company received an initial order for 500 trucks.

The trucks will be supplied as completely knocked-down (CKD) kits, and will be assembled in Teheran.

"The order shows that customers in this region are prepared to invest in an advanced new model such as the Volvo FH12,” said Roar Isaksen, senior vp and manager of the international division of Volvo Trucks. “It also represents a significant shift in technology for the country's transport industry. We look forward to further boosting our position on this market."

The sale results from a cooperative agreement Volvo signed earlier this year with Saipa Diesel in Iran for the manufacture of heavy trucks. The goal is to produce 1,500 units a year.

Since the early 1970s, Volvo Trucks has supplied more than 40,000 heavy trucks to Iran.
