Less-than-truckload carrier Con-Way Transportation Services of Ann Arbor, MI, will effectively suspend its fuel surcharge on December 24 and implement a new fuel surcharge calculation method for 2002.

Con-Way said this charge will apply to all of its subsidiaries during the balance of 2001, and as long as the average cost of diesel fuel stays below $1.15 per gallon. Con-Way said it bases its fuel surcharge on the weekly average price of diesel fuel that is published by the U.S. Dept. of Energy.

The translation table that converts the price per gallon to the percentage level of the surcharge will be posted on the carrier’s website.
