More than 60 well known companies, including Ford, Target, Sara Lee, General Motors and Motorola, considered low risk as terrorist threats, are participating in the U.S. Customs “fast track” program designed to speed trucks through Canadian border crossings. The companies supply Customs with information about loads, drivers, routes and destinations about 15 minutes before reaching the border. An onboard transponder verifies the truck's presence at the border, allowing it to cross with minimal delays. About 100 applicants have asked for similar permission.
