Diesel falls 8.9 cents to $2.513

The national average price for a gallon of diesel plummeted 8.9 cents to $2.513 for the week ending Nov. 20, according to the Energy Information Administration

The national average price for a gallon of diesel plummeted 8.9 cents to $2.513 for the week ending Nov. 20, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). This marked the fifth consecutive week of price drops, which totaled 64.4 cents during that time frame.

Of the regions, California posted the most dramatic price plunge, down 11.8 cents to $2.599. Price held the steadiest once again in New England, dropping only 4.7 cents to $2.652. The Rocky Mountain region retained its claim to being the most expensive region in which to buy diesel at $2.654, despite seeing a sizable 11.2-cent fall. The cheapest region in which to buy diesel was once again the Lower Atlantic at $2.423 after shedding 7.7 cents.

Diesel still remained 39.7 cents above the average price a year ago.
