Mountainside, NJ-based TransTech Partners is a new information technology firm formed by transportation industry veterans to serve the international container shipping industry, particularly when it comes to tracking containers as they move from ships through ports to trucks and trains and to receivers.

“In today’s highly competitive transportation market, strategic use of information is critical to success,” said Catherine Tiersten, one of the founders and principals of TransTech and the former COO of Global Transportation Solutions LLC, a terminal management software reseller and implementation company. “If your strategic business objectives point you in one direction, your IT strategy needs to be aligned to support those business initiatives.”

“In the container shipping industry, competition is fierce and the challenges are getting more complex,” added Steven Bushey, co-founder and principal and former president of Americas Systems Inc., a leading transportation software developer acquired by Maersk Data Inc. in 2002. “Our goal is to identify the critical information in a client’s business and turn it into competitive advantage.”

Ports are facing unprecedented pressure from increasing trade volumes, security investments and scarcity of resources, including land and budget, Bushey said, even as marine terminals are struggling to maximize space and increase throughput while providing superior customer service.
