Hourly paid employees at Freightliner LLC's St. Thomas, Ontario, truck manufacturing plant have chosen to certify the Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) as its collective bargaining representative.
Freightliner stated that it accepts the outcome and will bargain in good faith with the CAW to attempt to reach mutually agreeable contract terms. Both parties have confirmed that no dates have yet been set to begin the negotiations process.
More than 1,100 workers are employed at the St. Thomas plant, which began operations in 1991 and produces Sterling-brand heavy- and medium-duty trucks.
