Heil Environmental has announced several design improvements to its MultiTask SL drop-frame side loader refuse body based on extensive testing and customer feedback.
According to Heil, “this flexible refuse collection vehicle features high-strength steel in key areas for increased durability and reduced weight. The tailgate is equipped with Heil’s exclusive Shur-Lock tailgate locks that allow the operator to unlock the tailgate, discharge the load and then secure the tailgate all without leaving the vehicle cab.” Improvements have also been made to the MultiTask SL’s wiring, hydraulics, controls and other systems.
“The MultiTask SL offers refuse haulers maximum flexibility, payload capacity and dumping stability,” said Shannon Harrop, director of product management. “The recent updates are part of Heil’s focus on continuous improvement to make sure that every one of our products continues to evolve and improve to best meet our customers’ needs.”
Other features include split hopper doors on both sides of the body for easy loading access and to make it possible to tailor hopper capacity for any residential route. The MultiTask SL has low loading sills that, at 38 inches across, are among the widest in the industry, noted Heile, making it easy for operators to throw in refuse from either side of the street. For semi-automated collection, the body can be equipped with a cart lifter on one side or both and the Python automated arm can be added for fast automated collection.
