Airborne plans rate and fee increase

Airborne said rates for its 10:30 AM, Express AM, Next Afternoon, and Two Day service will increase by an average of 3%. For International Express, the rate increase will average 4%; and for Airborne's ground and home delivery services, rates will go up about 3.9%.

The company noted that increases apply only to customers that do not have rate-guaranteed contracts, though rate increases would be phased in as they renew their contracts.

Airborne added that it is also increasing several fees. The delivery area surcharge will increase to $1.75 from $1.50, residential delivery fee to $1.35 from $1.25, and its Saturday P&D fee to $12.50 from $10.00.
