Normal Tolls Reinstated on Pennsylvania Turnpike

Pennsylvania Turnpike tolls back to normal as strike ends
Dec. 2, 2004

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has reached a tentative agreement with its collective bargaining unit, ending a seven-day strike that resulted in the collection of flat $15 toll rates for commercial vehicles.

As of 9 pm yesterday, toll tickets were again issued to customers and normal tolls began to be collected at all interchanges along the Turnpike mainline. Also, toll collectors have resumed accepting commercial cards. Drivers exiting the Turnpike without a toll ticket after 5:00 a.m. Thursday will be charged the lost ticket fare.

At 4 am on November 24, the day before Thanksgiving, an estimated 1,800 Turnpike employees, including toll collectors, went on strike.
