The American Trucking Assns. ATA has chosen its 2003 America's Road Team captains. The Volvo-sponsored program chose 13 million-mile, accident-free professional truck drivers to represent the trucking industry and deliver its highway safety message to the motoring public.
The American Trucking Assns. (ATA) has chosen its 2003 America's Road Team captains. The Volvo-sponsored program chose 13 million-mile, accident-free professional truck drivers to represent the trucking industry and deliver its highway safety message to the motoring public.

The members are Bill Adams of Overnite Transportation, Jeff Arnold of Penske Logistics, Charon Crites and James Wages of Roadway Express, Danny Ewell of Wal-Mart Transportation, David Gardner of Bi-Lo, Herb McArthur of Werner Enterprises, Michael Nardone and Bill Wood of FedEx Ground, Mike Smucker of Yellow Transportation, Garland Woods and Ruben Armendarez of ABF Freight System and Ralph Hamilton of Old Dominion Freight Line.

Otto Schmeckenbecher of ABF Freight System is the alternate.

The captains have a combined 288 years of experience and 20 million safe-driving miles. They were selected from a group of 30 finalists.
