FedEx Corp. said its InSight Internet-based system for tracking inbound, outbound and third-party shipments will now also track ground shipments.

Introduced last year for express customers only, InSight was developed to help shippers manage supply chains and to offer resource planning, which provides real-time shipment information without having to input a tracking number. InSight creates a customized view of shipment information, with notifications via e-mail, fax or wireless device of critical shipping events as they occur during transit.

Memphis-based FedEx said customers shipping freight via ground service alone could now use InSight. Previously, the system was reserved for airfreight customers only.
