Marangoni Tread North America has started producing tire tread for commercial truck tire retreading in its new 50,000 sq.-ft. plant in Madison, TN. The $10-million facility marks the Italy-based tire company’s first plant in the United States.

The plant is producing Marangoni’s Ringtread product, which has been licensed to independent commercial retreaders in the U.S. since 1998.

The company’s manufacturing footing in the U.S. will serve to shorten supply lines, reduce inventory and increase efficiency, so that the tire company could address its U.S. dealers better, the company said. The company anticipates expansion for the facility as sales grow.

“We have had such tremendous success with Ringtread and demand is growing rapidly, we’ve actually tripled our business in the last two years. This additional capacity is much needed as we continue to grow and expand our business,” said Bill Sweatman, president & CEO of Marangoni Tread North America.

The plant utilizes Marangoni’s Alpharing tread-rubber manufacturing process, which the company says provides improved uniformity, advanced automation and integration, and is environmentally safe.
