Although the replacement unit “appears identical” to factory-installed alternators, he points out, it has almost twice the capacity and also produces higher output at lower engine speeds. “Cut in speed for the new alternators is 1,250 rpm,” Padgett adds. “It also has heavy-duty, high tolerance bearings, a sealed brush box, Zener diode rectifier plates and a single mounting foot. www.boschusa.com
