Pilot Air Freight, a transportation and logistics company based in Lima, PA, has introduced a new online freight tracking and management system called Co-Pilot, designed to streamline the entire shipping process.

The company said Co-Pilot allows shippers to get quotes, book shipments, track the shipment, and receive automatic e-mail alerts via an Internet-based system. By logging on to Pilot's webpage, shippers can develop and access their own personal navigational system for freight.

"While individual online features have been available for some time, now registered users can access all of these services simultaneously, through a single login page," said Gene Malcolm, Pilot's executive vp of information services.

Co-Pilot is a private extranet, protected by user name, password, customer number and site number. Once customers are registered, they can access the system around the clock, he added. The system books and tracks shipments via all modes of transportation – land, sea, and air, Malcolm said.
