The Canadian Trucking Alliance and the American Trucking Assns. announced their support for a Peace Bridge pre-clearance pilot project in Buffalo, NY. The project would investigate the effectiveness of moving border inspection operations from Buffalo to Fort Erie, ON.
Ultimately, both trade groups hope eliminating the bottlenecks caused by moving the inspections from congested areas in Buffalo to a more remote truck yard in Fort Erie will facilitate the flow of commerce between the Canada and the U.S.
“We are confident that the Peace Bridge pilot will demonstrate the benefits of pre-clearance,” said CTA CEO David Bradley.
