Tenneco Automotive has introduced the Walker NoiseBraker, a truck muffler designed to quiet heavy-duty vehicle exhaust and engine-brake noise, while increasing engine efficiency.

At the heart of the NoiseBraker muffler is a high-flow sound tuning system that filters out noise created by the engine and engine brake. The system features dual concentric Helmhotz tuners combined with fiberglass roving to retard noise over a wide range of frequencies without restricting exhaust flow. Under engine brake-induced deceleration, the NoiseBraker is two to four decibels quieter than the industry's best OE mufflers, according to Tenneco.

The NoiseBraker also uses straight-through exhaust routing to reduce system backpressure by more than 60% over conventional mufflers.
