LOUISVILLE – Larry "Scott" Travis, a driver for truckload carrier Covenant Transportation, was named Goodyear Tire & Rubber's Highway Hero for 2001. He was given the honor during the 2002 Mid America Trucking Show.

Travis, a 10-year veteran and a master driver trainer for Chattanooga, TN-based Covenant, rescued an unconscious woman trapped in her burning vehicle last April 7. He saw the woman's wrecked SUV on fire by the side of a highway outside of Sheridan, AR.

He used his fire extinguisher to keep the flames back while he pulled her from the burning vehicle. Moments after he rescued her, the car exploded.

Travis, who lives in Albuquerque, received a diamond ring and $10,000 savings bond from Goodyear for his actions.
